Who I am

I'm Mark Finch.  I write for a living.  I find it very satisfying and it pays my mortgage!

I'm a bit of a techie.  Early on, I produced the annual catalogues and weekly brochures for the largest electronics distributor in the world.  It was hard to leave - the staff-discount was very attractive.  But I moved into programming.  I wrote software for the legal profession, and later for the UK's electricity network operators, that I am sure you would find fascinating if those are industry sectors you work in.

Whatever I've done, my job has been to persuade people to believe in my ideas.  My skill was making the technical, understandable.  Thing is, I found selling ideas and getting everyone on-board as engaging as projects themselves.  So, now I'm a copywriter.   I write for anyone with an idea they believe in.  You're the expert.  I just make sure everyone knows.

What I do

I write to increase your sales, broaden your appeal and open new markets.  I put into words a vision of you supplying what your customers, your stakeholders, and your investors really want.

How I work

  • Predictable costs.  I work on a fixed-fee basis so you know the cost at the outset.  Hidden costs are a headache for you and I like to think my work sells itself.
  • You can change your mind.   I don't charge for rewrites.  I wouldn't hand over anything you were not 100% delighted with.  This is as much for my own satisfaction as it is to encourage you to come back.  Any project I work on is ready when you're happy, not before.
  • My work is yours.  What I write for you is all yours. If any third-party materials were required, we'd discuss it before they were included.  Again, I don't like hidden costs any more than you do.
  • You want peace of mind.   I want to give it.  The best advertisement for my work is that it be outstanding.  The best way for me to get business is to make my clients happy.  If there's anything else I can do, let me know, I'll probably do it.

Why you'll hire me

  • I'll make you money. We need to convert visitors to your website and readers of your adverts to paying customers.  Do your arch-competitor's advertisements make you drool with desire?  Is their website overflowing with up-to-date content that you keep coming back to? That didn't happen by accident.  That's a copywriter at work.  I attempt to see your organisation the way your clients do.  I figure out what they really want and create a vision of your company delivering it!
  • I'll save you time.  Think how much of your time gets eaten up simply reporting what you've done to the world at large.  Let me take care of reporting the facts, selling your wares, informing your public and shouting your message!
  • I know what I'm doing.  I'm a fifteen-year veteran of print-media, web-media, and all the technology that makes a modern business move.  I've worked in print media from end-to-end and with digital media before most people knew what it was.  I specialise in taking the technical and making it palatable.  My writing blends what your customers want to read with what the search engines want to see.
